Fiesta de Frida. Is an oil and chalk finished portrait based on my interpretation of one of the most inspirational artist from the 1920's.
I portrayed Frida as how I feel that she would paint a self portrait in the modern times, however in keeping with her powerful message and as a celebration of her life in a Mexican themed pop art collage which is a created by a prominent oil, acrylic and coloured chalk portrait with an intense background giving an illusion of a two dimension including parrots flying inward, towards Frida.
The background consists of a mix of gold lumiere paint, chalk and heat transferred transferring Mexican style vintage comics onto al on 6mm mdf wood panel.
Original size: 31" x 28"
Includes black ornate frame with a gold finished trim.
Mixed media: Heat pressed sublimation, coloured chalk, charcoal, gold leaf, acrylic, Lumiere gold paint on 6mm mdf wood panel.
